News from the Meadow Point Liaison

This year we are asking every household to commit to volunteering 2 hours per year, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved at Meadow Point all year round! Contact Hillary at  taegomez@cherrycreekschools.org or 720-886-8655. If you're interested in these or other volunteering opportunities, visit here.

Volunteering
Current Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Grizzly Round-Up: Volunteers are needed to help set-up, serve food, and clean-up for this year's school dance: The Grizzly Round-Up! The dance will be at Grandview High School's cafeteria, and will take place from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Please sign up here if you'd like to help out: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0b4ca8ac2ba6fa7-grizzly
  • Book Fair: Mark your calendars! We need volunteers to help set up and tear down the Book Fair in the library. Set Up will be afternoon on April 5th (time pending), and Tear Down will be afternoon of April 14th (time pending). The Book Fair will be open from April 10th to the 14th.
  • Art Class: If you have any of the following items listed below laying around, please consider donating them to our art classroom, so our students can learn some exciting new things in art class!
    • Dice (from old games you don't play anymore)
    • Plastic toy animals (for observational drawings)
    • Old digital cameras (so students can learn photography)
  • Gym Class: Has your student outgrown their sneakers? Please consider donating them to the school! Meadow Point could use your student's old tennis shoes and sneakers for gym class and intramurals for students who forget their gym shoes during the week or need new shoes.
  • Morning Reading Lab: Meadow Point is looking for volunteers to listen to children read during our morning reading lab. The lab is held in our library on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:30AM. It ends on May 4th. The goal of this lab is to instill a love for reading while improving their reading abilities. During this time, you would just be listening to children read books. As you listen, you can encourage them to use reading strategies to figure out unknown words and ask questions about what they are reading. Simple guidance tools will be provided to help you with this. There will also be three teachers in the lab. Please let me know if you can commit to one or two mornings a week or even once or twice a month.
  • Library Help: Volunteers are needed to help in the library with a variety of tasks during the regular school day. Volunteers can choose what days and times to help during the week.
  • Grizzly Guardians Program: Grizzly Guardians are parents who volunteer at least one half-day each year at the school, playing at recess, eating lunch with students, supervising hallways, assisting with traffic flow, and engaging with students in and out of classrooms.
  • Third Thursday Project Parties: Stop by the school anytime between 8:30am and 2:00pm every third Thursday of the month (next date: October 20th), to help teachers with a variety of projects while enjoying light refreshments. (Children are welcome to accompany parents and guardians).
